It depends: Overweight or obese females may enter puberty earlier. In obese males, puberty may be delayed.

Possibly: Obesity in childhood does increase the risk of early puberty, but not every child with obesity enters puberty early. Puberty is a complex process and can normally start as early as 7-8 years and as late as 13 year in girls (most commonly 10-11 yrs). For boys it starts an average of 2 years later.
