You : You actually have included quite a few questions here. During a psychiatric evaluation, expect to discuss the problem that you desire to be treated for. In addition, you will likely be asked about how much alcohol you consume, any medications or herbals/ supplements you are taking, about drug, caffiene and nicotine use, allergies, past medical history, past surgical history, family psychiatric history, your own past psychiatric history, nutrition, pain, spirituality and questions to determine if there is any risk to harm self or others. A diagnosis can help to determine what treatment plans the doctor will offer you. Both cognitive behavioral therapy and medications can be helpful.

Psych Eval: A psychiatric evaluation should include a thorough discussion of the problem, as well as a detailing of your medical history, your social and family history. A preliminary gameplan should be mapped out. You should feel that your options are explained and your questions answered. Also very important is being treated with respect and your needs taken seriously.

correct dose needed: In my practice, with my patients, I have found that many of them have been underdosed when treated by non psychiatric physicians. The therapeutic dose for ocd of sertraline is between 200 - 300 mgs for most healthy adults. You may want to get a consultation from a psychiatrist who is knowledgable and comfortable treating ocd with medications, and get a second opinion. Medication treatment works.
