Hello. : Hello. Yes. Dogs can pass bacteria, viruses and parasites in their stool and then can lick the stool, so that it is in their saliva. Here are some possible bacteria: campylobacter, capnocytophaga canimorsus & leptospira. Viruses can include rabies. One possible parasites is bartonella. Many times the dog's bite causes the person to become infected due to bacteria that is already on their skin (like staph and strep). Dogs can transmit 65 types of parasites to humans (although not all can be transmitted by biting).
