A member asked:

Is co2 laser resurfacing safe for someone taking immune-suppressing drugs? i'm taking them because of an organ transplant, so i won't be able to go off them. i'd really like to treat some wrinkles with co2 laser resurfacing, but i'm worried i might not he

CO2 : Co2 laser resurfacing is high risk for an immunosuppressed patient because inflammation is a vital step in the healing process and because your ability to fight infection is less, co2 laser resurfacing is more likely to be complicated by scarring and infection. Since you have had an organ transplant and your immunosuppressive medications cannot be discontinued, co2 laser resurfacing is probably not worth the risk!

Co2 : Co2 laser resurfacing causes a 2nd degree burn, opening the skin to an increased risk of infection. In immunosuppressed patients the risks of infection and subsequent complications become unacceptably high. You may get benefit from topical therapy such as retinoids. Discussion with your physicians is imperative

High risk: Personally, i wouldn't recommend it for you, because you are at high risk for infectious complications, as well as delayed healing. Both can lead to scars.
