There : There are a number of cramp syndromes and myotonia syndromes that run in families. These conditions are generally quite rare, and diagnosis requires a neurologist who is both experienced and learned in neuromuscular disorders. Possible diagnoses include myotonic dystrophy, familial cramps, and neuromyotonia. Dystonia is another group of conditions that may or may not run in families. Identification of many of these conditions is important because they can involve other organs, including the heart, and may confer additional risks when undergoing procedures under anesthesia.

There : There is a condition called dupuytren's contracture that may be inherited. There is thickening of the tendons in the palm of the hand. This causes the fingers(usually the ring finger and little finger) to pull into the palm. If it becomes severe, the tendons can be released surgically. Sometimes cramping can be positional. I will occasionally get cramping in the forearm with flexion of the fingers after a long drive. The cramp is usually relieved if i squeeze the cramped muscle.
