When giving a shot to the thy, do we point the needle straight down or to the side four inches from the knee and to the side. i am a diabetic and i take four shots a day. so i need to give a shot in both the tummy and legs.

If : If you are using 4 or 5 mm (millimeter) needles then you can go straight in without pinching the skin. If your needles are longer, then you should pinch the skin and go straight in through the pinched area. You should not go to the side when injecting. If you have a certified diabetes educator (cde) in your area you should visit with her (or him) to go over injections. See the link below.
