There : There is not a one size fits all answer for this question. The prescribing doctor will look at things, like how long does the medication need to be actively working each day, does the child have side effects, would possible weight loss be a problem, is there concurrent substance abuse, is there a desire for use of a medication which is not a controlled substance etc.Etc. Etc.
