I : I doubt the scoliosis is causing the swelling. What you're seeing is the result of gravity. If you were to stand on your head, you're head would swell, and if you were to relocate to the moon, your feet & legs would swell less. You are retaining fluid for some reason. It just happens to be showing up in your feet, but it's not a foot problem. There are many reasons for fluid retention, most commonly either the heart, lungs, liver or kidneys. I would start by seeing your primary care physician who will probably order some blood work and other tests to see why you're retaining fluid, and may put you on a diuretic ("water pill") until the cause is apparent. Good luck. Btw... Avvo doesn't reach the moon, so if you move there, you're on your own.

Venous insufficiency: Valves in the veins of the leg prevent back flow of blood. If they have been damaged back flow occurs and fluid seeps into the tissues. Surgical stockings are often prescribed. Visit a vascular md and get it checked out.
