Hello. : Hello. The withdrawal method is considered a contraceptive technique. It is not considered reliable because pre-ejaculate contains sperm and can be emitted before the man becomes aware that he is about to ejaculate. The failure rates that are quoted vary widely. Proponents of withdrawal tout it's failure rate to be as low as 4%. Other sources quote as high as a 27% failure rate. Around 18 to 19% pops up more consistently in literature.
