Hello. : Hello. You may be referring to colonoscopy. The individual takes some medication to clean out their GI tract. The doctor looks at the colon through a scope attached to a tube, to ensure that it is healthy. General surgeons often perform these. Some alternative medicine docotors do colonics, to help purge the colon of feces.
