Hello. : Hello. Normally women don't become pregnant during menstruation. An exception to that would be if there was unprotected sexual intercourse toward the end of menses. If there were still viable, motile sperm in the woman's body at the time of ovulation, it could lead to conception. It would be doubtful that sex on the first day of menstruation would lead to pregnancy. If she has missed her period, then a pregnancy test is the best way to determine pregnancy. Vaginal spotting can occur at time of implantation of the embryo, but it is not the only reason for spotting. Hope this answers things for you. Take care.
