Management : Management of stress can be very challenging. Oftentimes it resolves with addressing the particular stressors if this is feasible. Otherwise, i would recommend a multidisciplinary approach starting with behavioral specialists such as psychologists and therapist then moving on to medications if necessary.

I : I agree with dr. Mambalan. I recommend that you see a good psychologist, to help you with coping skills. Medications are often not necessary unless you have a mental disorder.

First : First and foremost honor the feeling of stress. Your body and mind are telling you to do just like you have done. Ask for outside help. As already stated there are a myriad of reasons for these feelings to arise and my experience is that without some outside help you'll miss the mark. Even a seasoned clinician can sometimes only make educated guesses. In my experience unrecognized medical as well as mental health disorders need to be ruled out before assuming it is some "external" stressor. Alcohol, other drug abuse, in self or family are common. Sometimes unrecognized ptsd. Of course relationship, financial, and "external" factors and events can contribute. A good family doc if they are able to hear your story should be able to give you a little more specific guidance as to what it might be. Often there is a little trial and error as it gets sorted out because sometimes its not one thing but a combo. I think you are one of the fortunate because you are able to ask for help rather than assuming you should be able to figure it out on your own.
