Hello. : Hello. Many spider bites cause no significant health problems. I don't know if he had a spider bite. Some spider bites have a black eschar (scab) in the middle and the skin around it is lighter colored (necrotic tissue). I am answering this six days after it was written, so hopefully it has healed by now. If it is red, hot, tender, swollen or purulent this many days out, then he may have an infection that would benefit from evaluation.
