Hello. : Hello. One of the most important things to do, is to ensure that you are stretching adequately both before and after basketball and track. An ounce of prevention really is worth a pound of cure! if you are playing basket ball, that can really cause a lot of pounding on your knees. You might want to talk to your coach about weight lifting to strengthen the ligaments that support the knee. Non steroidal anti inflammatory medications (like motrin) can be very helpful (as long as not allergic). If you are doing lots & lots of these kind of sports you might need to take a few days off to allow your joints to heal. Although many people recommend icing the joint, if you use moist heat, it can help to remove some of the pain chemicals from the area. Hopefully, some of these things will be beneficial. Seeing a doctor is a possibility if this really become problematic take care.
