Not necessary: It's not required that you take hormones for menopause, but it's the way to minimize the accelerated aging symptoms associated with loss of estrogen, Progesterone and testosterone. There are several supplements that can ease symptoms as well, though the supplements don't address the physical changes which are delayed by hrt.
