Not : Not usually though having said that a recurrent infection should be evaluated and xrays can indiacate whether there is a suspiciuos lesion ( infection) in the bone. Usually these recurrent infections are paronychias, infection in th edge of the nail fold. Soaking may help to loosen up some of the purulent material.
