There : There are multiple conditions that could cause swelling, such as a lipoma (benign fatty tissue) or a synovial cyst (a cyst from the knee joint), or other causes. If a patient started having pain in the area or increased swelling then seeing their primary care doctor for an evaluation would be reasonable.
