There : There have been only rare cases reported of familial lewy body dementia. This is hard to separate from other causes of cognitive (thinking and memory) dysfunction. There are some relationships to parkinson's disease as well. Please discuss this with your psychiatrist and have her refer you to a neurologist for a review of all your medicines and a full workup. There are many treatable causes of memory problems including thyroid problem, vitamin deficiencies and vascular problems that should be checked before you focus on the type of dementia your brother had. The fact that you have pain in your feet may mean you have a neuropathy making a treatable memory problem more likely. You didn't mention your age, but if you are in your mid to late 40's eyeglasses from the dollar store are part of the territory.
