What could be causing numb hands? lately i've been waking up during the night with numb hands. this only happens while i'm sleeping. i know i'm not laying on my hands but maybe clinching them. is this something to be concerned about. i'm 50 years old.

Most : Most likely carpal tunnel syndrome. We have a tunnel in our wrist that a nerve and all the tendons go through. Like loose joints and tight joints, some tunnels are tighter than others. If you are born with a tight tunnel, later in life symptoms exactly like yours appear. You could see if wrist splints that hold your wrists straight help you to sleep. Eventually your doctor will need to check it.

Carpal : Carpal tunnel, cubital tunnel, perpheral neuropathy, neck nerve compression, sleep position, medications, nutritional issues, thyroid or endocirne, diabetes, blood flow, vascular issues... Many things cause "numb" fingers.
