Not normal but possi: Some people may get pain for this long after open thoracotomy. It usually comes from fractured ribs(usually for 6-12 months). It can, however, come from a disrupted intercostal nerve, this can give rise to neuropathic pain. It is best to see a pain specialist because this is a treatable condition.
