This : This is a fairly vague questions, but in general, "pleuritic" pain, or pain that increases with inspiration is typically due to things that inflame the dynamic structures in the chest that slide upon each other with breathing movements. This could be rib inflammation, aka costochondritis, inflammation of the sac around the heart (pericarditis), or pneumonia/pleurisy type processes. Most physicians will advocate a course of nsaids (non steroidal) medications for first line treatment, but this should be discussed with your doctor.
