Do : Do you have any numbness? Tingling? Pins & needles? The area you are describing is the area of sensation supplied by the median nerve--the nerve that is pinched in carpal tunnel syndrome. Have you had a recent injury? Sometimes the nerve can be bruised, such as when the hands are on the steering wheel in a car accident. A severe, sudden onset may imply a more significant problem. You should see your primary care physician or a hand surgeon promptly to have this evaluated.
