Rest : Rest is fine, but not too much. You still want to try to keep the muscles and joints moving without excessive exercise while your calves are recovering. You could try anti-inflammatory meds such as advil or Aleve (naproxen) (as long as it is safe for you to take these, and always with food). Ice is helpful for swelling and inflammation, while heat can help with motion and stiffness. Your pain should resolve quickly. If not, you need to be evaluated for other possible problems.
