Trouble : Trouble sleeping is a common side effect of hydrocodone. However, the itching may be signs of an allergic reaction. If you have swelling of your mouth, lips or tongue or you are experiencing tightness in your chest or difficulty breathing, you need to go to the er now. Even if you only have some isolated itching, i recommend that you call that provider today. It may mean that medication is not the right choice for you and the provider may need to consider a different medication for controlling pain. Please don’t take any more of the hydrocodone until this gets evaluated.

Agreed.: Yes this is a common side-effect, but if you have the signs of an allergic reaction: stop the medication & go to the er!

Hydrocodone: These are common side effects of the medication. The itchiness is from a histamine release in response to the medicine, the restlessness is from this too and from caffeine in the formulation to speed the onset.

Allergy: Itching means you have an allergy to the hydrocodone. Call you doc and get a different medication. Tell all future docs that you are allergic to hydrocodone.
