Because : Because neither parent has a gene for the a blood type (both are o/o in order to have type o blood) the baby could only have type o blood (with the same o/o genes). Rh positivity can come from three different gene combinations: +/+, +/-, and -/+. The baby would most likely be positive, as well, but has about a 17% chance of being rh negative (-/-).
