A : A definite association between phenteramine alone and valvular heart disease has not been established, but it is possible. There are rare case reports of valvular heart disease developing in patients taking phenteramine alone. From analysis i would consider this possible but very unlikely. The well established risks with phenteramine relate to its amphetamine-like actions, which can raise blood pressure and have other adverse effects on the body. The effectiveness of this drug has been demonstrated. However, as you may have recognized from your own previous use, the weight lost while taking this drug tends to come back after you stop it. Short term (12 weeks or less) therapy with phenteramine as part of a medically structured weight loss program may be of benefit but the magnitude and sustainability of that benefit may not justify the risk.
