A member asked:

Do the antipsychotics used to treat bipolar also help the hallucinations?

Yes: Hallucinations by definition are evidence of a psychosis. Whether the psychosis is a functional psychosis (true mental illness that is genetic in nature), toxic (induced by street or treatment drugs) or metabolic (diabetes, liver or kidney failure) antipsychotics can help. As it turns out those same drugs often are quite effective in treating some types of bipolar disorder.
