Many : Many lifestyle changes could affect the ability to sleep (late exercises, caffeine or alcohol intake, unsteady bedtime schedule and a sleep environment that is not promoting to sleep). These are some of the the most common reasons for someone not be to able to fall asleep easily. Trying to go to bed when you are sleepy, around the same time every night, waking up around the same time every morning (no sleep-in on weekends), avoiding intensive exercise, alcohol and caffeine for at least 4-5 hours before bedtime, avoiding meals within 2 hours before bedtime, avoiding evening bright light exposure (including computers and smart phones), if not able to fall asleep in around 20 minutes, get up and do something boring not behind a computer screen or in front of the tv. Reading in a dim light would be a good choice, and don't go back to bed until your eyes feel tired again. All of these can help with difficulty falling asleep. If none of these help, a professional assessment may be a good idea. Occasionally other reasons exist and will need a doctors input.
