A member asked:

Are you born with t.b. bacteria in your body? just wondering.

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Only : Only if you have congenital tuberculosis in which TB infected mothers pass the bacteria to their babies while in utero. This is extremely rare and always fatal unless the newborns are diagnosed and treated quickly. Otherwise, TB is spread through droplets in the air when an infected person coughs or sneezes and another person breathes in the bacteria.
