Ineffective: Typically, what is touted as "nitric oxide booster" is l-arginine powder. L-arginine is a precursor of nitric oxide. Nitric oxide is released from the endothelium and causes vasodilation. Typically, people eating a normal diet have plenty of arginine in their diet to make nitric oxide. There is no proven performance advantage for taking l-arginine before training or competitive exercise.
