The : The most important thing that needs to be ruled out are absence seizures - a type of seizure commonly seen in kids. Absense seizures are described as a loss of consciousness for a few seconds - the sufferer usually appears to be staring off into space. The good news is that these seizures are often well-controlled by medication and over 70% of kids will outgrow them by age 18. Special care has to be taken when the kids are swimming or bathing to prevent drowning. Other causes could be behavioral such as attention deficit disorder, but seizures need to be ruled out first. Good luck!
