Avoid both: Infants do not benefit from any toxic exposure, inhaled or otherwise. Gasoline fumes, carbon monoxide, perfume, plug ins, fragrent cleaning supplies and smoke all should be avoided.I don't know of any kid who is held as close to an exhaust pipe as many women do to their smoke tainted hair. There is no justification for smoking if a child is present in the home. Second hand smoke is a killer period !

Cigarettes worse: Both are really bad for you, in different ways. It doesn't matter which is worse, they are both dangerous, avoid them. Both have carbon monoxide. Cigarette smoke has 10 times more particles than car exhaust and over 4000 other toxic chemicals. Car exhaust has both small particles which get trapped in your lungs and free radicals created by the catalytic converter which also damage lungs.
