Depending : Depending on what your nose and lip look like and what your goals are, revision surgery may be possible. It isn't uncommon to need scar revision for prior cleft lip surgery. In other cases volume deficiencies need to be addressed as well. You can follow the link below to learn how to send your photos for review.

In : In my experience, surgery for repair of cleft lip/palate nasal deformities can be quite challenging even in the best of hands. Usually by the time an individual is at the adult stage, it is not uncommon for multiple surgeries on the lip and nose to have been accomplished. My suggestion is to find a plastic surgeon who is affiliated with a cleft palate team or at least one who has extensive experience in cleft rhinoplasty repair. While sending a picture of yourself would be helpful, it is most important to have a thorough exam of both the outside and inside of your nose to make the best recommendations. Finally, if it is at all possible to have access to your past operative records, this would be most helpful for the next surgeon to review. This would allow him/her to see what cartilage and or implants may have been placed. Best wishes.

Thank : Thank you for your question. Cleft lip surgery is almost always associated with a nasal deformity. There is a wide range on involvement from a small dimple in the lip margin to a wide open cleft involving the lip palate and nose. The larger the defect, and the later it is addressed, the harder it is to get a good result. Because there is such a wide variation in presentation and because you have already had treatment, you would be best served by seeking an in person consultation with a board certified plastic surgeon or maxillofacial surgery who has experience with cleft repairs. During a consultation, the advice you get is specifically geared to your problem and your goals.
