There : There are lots of reasons for a woman to have irregular periods including: -stress -diet (too few calories) -weight loss -excessive exercise -thyroid problem such as low thyroid hormone -polycystic ovarian syndrome -being within 2-3 years of starting your period (many women have irregular periods for the first 3 years) if you are otherwise feeling well, my guess is that you fit into the last category since it has not yet been three years since you started your period. Reasons to speak with your doctor are if you are experiencing pain, cramping, bloating, breast tenderness, bad acne, no period for more than 45 days if you are sexually active or irregular periods that continue after 3 years from starting your period. If you are having other symptoms such as weight loss or weight gain, thinning hair, constipation, dry skin, fatigue, or swelling of your neck, also call your doctor.
