Abilify (aripiprazole) : Abilify (aripiprazole) is a once a day medication. It can be taken ether in the morning or at night, depending on tolerance or symptoms you are treating. For example, if you have difficulty maintaining sleep, or feeling tired in the mornings, it is better to take it at night. If you are too irritable during the day, it is better to take it in the morning. The full effect of the medication can be reached within 1-2 weeks, though for severe symptoms the medication needs to be adjusted and it may take longer to achieve the remission of the symptoms. In some cases, patients report no improvement after 2 months of trial. In this situation, you may need to change the medication. I hope the information is helpful.

14Days: It is fine to take abilify in the am or pm, whichever you remember better, or at night if it makes you tired am if you feel at all activated by it. Should be at steady state in 14days.

Reflux or allergies: If you are not home between these times... I would strongly think you might have allergies that are causing your symptoms. If there are pets in the house... That may be what is causing this. Another condition that can cause a nightly/ early morning cough is acid reflux. See your local ENT for further evaluation.

Is blood pressure higher in the am or pm?

End of day: Blood pressure tends to be higher after stress exposure - if you spent a day exercising and relaxing, your BP may be lower - of if taken at the end of a stressful day it will probably be higher. Ideal BP is 115/70-75. Get yourself a home BP cuff if you have a problem - i would recommend the traditional type as electronic devices are not very accurate. If you have high BP in am, you should see md.

I didn't see Dr. Sands' answer before I answered, but I agree completely with him as well.

4-7 days: Depending on the dose started and the schedule to increase to a target dose, generally 4-7 days one should see results (less symptoms overall).

Can't say: Bipolar disorder is a very tough problem. You are to be commended for getting treated and staying with the plan you and your dr have laid out.The disorder never goes away completely and requires a close relationship with your provider for successful management of this very difficult illness.
