For future reference, however, unless directed by her ob/gyne, it is not safe for a woman to take an over-the-counter pain medication in the NSAID family (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug). These medications can affect the blood flow in the baby's heart, so are not recommended. The list includes ibuprofen, motrin, advil, Naproxen and Aleve or anyhting that contains these. Unfortunately, during pregnancy, tylenol (acetaminophen) is really the only over the counter pain reliever she can take.
