For : For an adult: top number below 120 and bottom number below 80 = healthy top number between 120-139 and bottom number 80-89 = prehypertension top number between 140-159 and bottom number 90-99 = stage 1 hypertension top number above 160 and bottom number above 100 = stage 2 hypertension the ranges for children and teenagers are typically lower and are based on age and height. People with other health problems besides high blood pressure such as diabetes, kidney disease, heart disease may require more aggressive control of their blood pressure.
