What is wrong with my jaw? i am having pains in the joints of my jaw. i can still move it, but i can not close fully without severe pain. it makes a poping noise when i move it side to side.

This : This sounds like TMJ problem (jaw joint), please see your dentist or oral surgeon for further evaluation. In the meantime you might try taking some Ibuprofen and using warm compresses to the jaw to get the muscles to relax and decrease the swelling.
