If : If the redness is lessening and the wound is otherwise healing, i suggest keeping it clean and let your body take care of the rest. If the redness is not improving or getting larger, or if you are diabetic, have poor circulation, or any reason to think your immune system is weakened, you should see a primary care doctor for evaluation and treatment (or if significantly worsening, go to an er or urgent care). Good luck!

Wound treatment: Simple wound care includes cleansing the wounded area with soap and water daily. Apply antibiotic ointment and a sterile dressing to the area daily after cleansing. If the redness worsens, you should see your podiatrist for treatment of possible infection.
