Just : Just like finding any "good" professional of any time, when i'm looking for a dentist, i would: -ask friends and see what their experiences are -look at my insurance plan (if any) -see if they belong to the american dental association and/or their state society -look up their license on the state's licensing website to make sure there aren't sanctions against them -look up reviews on social media websites like yelp.Com after all this, i would consider making an appointment to meet the dentist without having work done. Explain to the staff that you are rather anxious and want to check out the practice before going as a patient. Any good physician or dentist will understand and accommodate you.

Immediate Referral: You can find a "good" dentist several ways. A dentist who has achieved fellowship or mastership with the academy of general dentistry (agd.Org) or the academy of cosmetic dentistry (aacd.Org) would be a move in the right direction.

Ask trusted sources: Find people that you trust and ask around. If a particular name keeps popping up, then try that person. You may need to treat your anxiety before your first dental appointment. Sorry you had such bad dental experience.
