One watched together: There are so many good and interactive dvd out there now that i couldn't begin to pick a "best one". However, as with any educational item for your child, the best one is the one you do together. Your child will learn so much better if you are at their side to explain, sing along, pretend you're the characters - these will help them engrain the messages and things learned in their minds forever!

Interactive: Although kids might learn a little bit from passively watching a dvd, the big benefit comes when the dvd inspires interaction - jumping up, dancing, shouting out answers - and all the more so when that interaction is shared with you. What dvd that will be depends on the child and the family.
