Depends: Wet amd is treated with different intravitreal medications, such as avastin, lucentis, (ranibizumab) and Eylea - the patient needs to see a retina specialist for evaluation and possible further testing with angiogram/oct to determine if treatment is needed and to monitor response to different medications.

Combination: A variety of new medications can treat the wet form of amd and more are on the way. The dry form has been difficult to treat and preventive measures such as a diet high in antioxidants have been shown to reduce conversion from dry to wet amd. A combination of preventive health measures and judicious use of the new meds is best. Don't forget the retinal examination by your retinal specialist.
