A member asked:

Can a cystoscopy detect an enlarged prostate gland?

Yes: Cystoscopy is the test of choice for evaluating the bladder by visual examination. It can also visualize the inner part of the prostate (prostatic urethra) that lines the urethra. When there is enlargement, the degree of obstruction and the length of prostate can be measured.

Cystoscopy: Diagnosis of BPH (prostate enlargement) is mainly based on symptom assessment. Sometimes a cystoscopy is recommended to assess the degree of obstruction or to rule out other causes of your symptoms.
