What is the difference between a myringoplasty and a tympanoplasty?

Semantics: Both are operations to fix the ear drum. Myringoplasty is typically used to describe minor procedures to patch a small hole in the tm (say from a tube that fell out or was removed), tympanplasty usually implies more significant surgery to the tm (bigger or chronic hole to be fixed, associated hearing loss and repair of ossicles, surgery for chronic otitis media or cholesteatoma, etc.).
