There : There are a lot of different over the counter medications to treat arthritic symptoms. For those who don't like to take medications, capsaicin cream is a good alternative , applied once or twice a day gently( no rubbing) the active drug is obtain from the red hot peppers, provide quick relief to sore joints. Do not touch your eyes or mouth without washing your hands first. If applied to the hands wait 20 minutes before washing them. Acetaminophen (the compound find in tylenol) is the first line agent recommended to treat arthritis . If symptoms don't improve then anti-inflammatory such as Ibuprofen or Naproxen can be used for limited periods of time. Medications such as chondroitin or glucosamine can help also, but clinical studies have been inconclusive about their benefits.

Manage OA: Walking is an excellent exercise if one suffers with osteoarthritis. Progression of OA can be generally minimized by losing weight, performing light weight training and low impact cardiovascular exercise (elliptical, exercise bike). Glucosamine and chondroitin supplementation can help to rebuild lost cartilage as well.
