A member asked:

Bacterial vs. viral meningitis? what are some of the differences between bacterial and viral meningitis?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Treatment: Both cause inflammation of the meninges or brain covering with intense headaches, neurological symptoms, fever, and stiff nek. Bacterial meningitis tends to be more severe and there are antibiotics that can treat it. Viral meningitis is viral and there are not antibiotics that treat it. That is the briefest difference.
