What kind of tumor: There are many kinds of brain tumors. Many of them are benign. An estimate of your prognoses/chances of survival will depend on the pathology of the tumor as well as its location/size and presence or absence of metastasis.

Variable: Survival with the diagnosis of a brain tumor varies with age, with the type and grade of the tumor, and with what treatments a patient can have. For malignant brain tumors ('cancers') the average survival following maximal safe surgery to take out all of the detectable tumor, followed by radiation therapy and chemotherapy in combination, is about 13 months. Discuss this with your doctors.
