Not very high: Cirrhosis of any type increses the chance for malignancy but the odds are fairly low. All pts with cirrhosis have an Alpha feto protein screening test far hepatoma. Mickey mantle had liver cancer after a lifetime of alcohol use.

Depends: Chances of liver cancer in patient with cirrhosis depends on their cause of their liver disease. Estimated risk ranges between approximately 2 to 7 % per year, again depend on the type of liver disease. Which means, cumulative risk is high. In addition, patient with hepatitis b can develop liver cancer even without cirrhosis.

Depends: Cirrhosis is an important risk for liver cancer. Estimated risk is 2 to 3% per year with hepatitis c infection, from alcohol, fatty liver disease and hereditary iron overload disease. Someone with hepatitis b infection even without cirrhosis can develop liver cancer. Cancer can also develop in cirrhosis with other type of liver disease, but their risk is unknown.
