Is the source of infection always found in sepsis?

No: Often the source of infection is not clearly identified and more than 1/3 the time the specific organism/ bug causing the sepsis is never identified. Often treatment/antbiotics fix the problem before source/organism can be clearly identified.

No: When patients present with sepsis the goal is early antibiotic therapy with broad spectrum antibiotics. If cultures are not drawn before the antibiotics are given it may be difficult to make a definitive diagnosis.

Not always: Sometimes it is difficult to find the source, sometimes we may have assume or guess even after doing many tests.
