Abnormal bleeding: Is this a new problem or have you been having abnormal bleeding for a few months time now? This could be related to any of a number of issues such as polyps, fibroids, ovulation problems, infection, etc. You should be seen by an obgyn physician near you for a full exam, pap smear, cultures and possibly an ultrasound or blood work.

Pathological: Vaginal bleeding doesn't have to be from your natural "period". There are many reasons you can have vaginal bleeding. Infectious, cervical bleeding. Anovulation (no ovulation, as in PCOS) Vaginal laceration, cervical laceration Hormonal causes (progesterone withdrawl) I would suggest seeing your OB/Gyn doctor

Need more info: I take it that you are having vaginal bleeding. I am curious how you know it is not your period. If it is because you recently had a period, keep in mind that a woman can have unexpected menstrual irregularity. If you have been sexually active then trauma is a possibility, vaginal and/or cervical tears can occur. If you have been sexually active without protection (condom) then STD possible.
